Sunnyvale Garden Club Meeting – 10/09/12

FUN Word  – Bromelaid – What is it?

Bromeliads are perennial monocotyledons — plants that have one seed leaf like lilies or corn, rather than two seed leaves like roses or beans. Their seeds have a food reserve, which means bromeliads can be grown like most other plants.The pineapple was the first bromeliad to make an impression in Europe.

Rockwall Community Playhouse Presents 9 to 5

Our very own garden club member, Johnette Russell (stage name Johnna Leigh), is starring in a local production of 9 to 5, “a story about three unlikely friends who conspire to take control of their company and learn there’s nothing they can’t do — even in a man’s world”.  Johnette plays the part of Roz, Mr. Heart’s love struck employee whose only desire is to please her boss.  Her fans report that the part of Roz is perfect for Johnette and her performance will have you laughing out loud over and over.

There are only a few nights left and seats are limited.   Ticket

State Fair of Texas goes Big & Bright in 2012

State Fair of Texas 2012

The State Fair of Texas is scheduled to open at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept.  28 and runs through Oct. 21.  In addition to the great food and fun activities, you might also enjoy  the Garden Show and informative gardening sessions from the experts during one of the Southern Living Speaker Series sessions.   Senior Citizens 60 years and older get in to the State Fair FREE each Thursday.  For more information on discounted admission, please see  Discounts and Deals.

SGC Scrapbook for 2011-2012

The Sunnyvale Garden Club Scrapbook for the 2011-2012 year has been completed and is being shipped to Rachel Doyle.  A digital version of the scrapbook is now available for viewing on the Creative Memories Digital Center.  One of the great things about digital scrapbooks is that they can be viewed on your own computer and at your own leisure.

National Take Back Initiative
