Colorful Deviled Eggs for Easter

Colorful Deviled Eggs Recipe….easter egg1

12 Large Eggs
6 Tablespoons Mayonnaise
2 Teaspoons Mustard
1 Pinch Cayenne Pepper
Salt & Black Pepper
Food Coloring
1 Sandwich Bag

Directions
Peel hard boiled eggs.
Halve each egg lengthwise and scoop the yolks into a medium bowl, reserving the egg whites.
Rinse the egg whites with water to remove the remaining yolk and pat dry.

Prepare food coloring according to instructions listed on package. (If you are sharing the egg dye with your kids or grandkids – be sure that you use it first – before the kiddos get their grubby little hands into the dye.)  Submerge egg white into color bath until desired color is achieved.

Remove colored egg white from color bath and place on drying tray. Dab with paper towel to absorb remaining liquid.

Mash the yolks and add mayonnaise, mustard and cayenne; season with salt and black pepper. (note from Rachel: “I like to add finely chopped onion and dill pickles.”)

Fill yolk mixture into a small sandwich bag, cutting a small opening in the corner of the baggie. Gently squeeze the bag to pipe the yolk mixture into the egg white halves.  http://www.paaseastereggs.com/recipes-color-eggs.asp

Local Charity in the News

Charity2The SGC supports a local charity, Sharing Life Community Outreach, in their efforts to provide a variety of services to needy families and individuals in the Mesquite and southeast Dallas area. In December, SGC members (organized by Bonnie Bannister) provided fresh baked cookies to clients as they waited their turn in line at SLCO’s annual Christmas Fair. According to Bonnie, SLCO provided toys and clothes to 1,000 families. SGC also collects donations of non-perishable foods at each meeting to help stock SLCO’s food pantry. More information about this charity and the services they provide can be found in a recent article featured in The Dallas Morning News: http://www.dallasnews.com/news/community-news/mesquite/headlines/20130108-sharing-life-community-outreach-in-mesquite-offers-help-and-respect-to-needy.ece

Love Inspired Body Care Recipe

Lavender Bath Salts

Lavender Bath Salts

Valentine’s Day is just a few short weeks away. What better way to celebrate than by pampering yourself or a loved one with a handmade body care product?   I recently made the following sweet lavender bath salts recipe with a group of my friends.  Lavender smells divine and is oh-so-good for relaxing the body and mind…which we need after the holidays.  It is simple to make and can help create an unforgettable experience!

Sweet Lavender Bath Salts

Floral and relaxing, these salts are a perfect addition to any bath.

Ingredients:

– 1 cup Salt (Epsom, Sea Salt, Dead Sea Salt, or a mixture)
– 1/4 cup Baking Soda
– 20 drops organic Lavender essential oil
– 1 TBSP organic Lavender flowers

Instructions:

Mix salt and baking soda together in a large bowl. Add essential oil and Lavender flowers, blend well. Package in a jar, or use right away.

Note: For a slightly warming, detoxifying effect, steep a piece of ginger root and add the tea to your bath.

Happy Pampering!
