“Roses and Clematis Playing Well Together” is the topic of our Nov. 12 meeting at Sunnyvale Town Hall at 10:00 a.m. Join us for a wonderful program and delicious lunch. You don’t have to be a member to attend! Our speaker is Janet Gustafson, who has been a member of Dallas Rose Society and Brookhaven Garden Club for 14 and 16 years respectively.

Janet has a small yard so must pack in a lot in a little space. She has grown roses for several decades but only added clematis 8 years ago with one vine of Dr. Ruppel which a neighbor gave her. To maximize space she has grown up to 4 vines on one trellis but most typically only two and the larger growing vines

to a trellis. She has 16 rose bushes of various varieties.

How to Care For Your Houseplants – Oct. 8, 2024

Toni Leitgab, our speaker on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 10 a.m. at Sunnyvale Town Hall, is a native Dallasite who loves plants. She grew up listening to Howard Garrett on the radio and watching her grandmother pickle vegetables from her garden. She later bought her first houseplant and planted her first veggie patch in college in Denton in 2000. Since then she’s had houseplants and gardens everywhere she’s lived – from State College, Pennsylvania to Long Island, New York, to Houston and back to Dallas again. Toni worked for independent garden centers for several years and has taken numerous courses on indoor and outdoor gardening. She is currently working towards becoming a certified Dallas County Master Gardener. Toni’s favorite thing about gardening is there’s always a beautiful plant you haven’t seen before and always more to learn!
